Police say the sports star was driving dangerously on the stretch of motorway and undertaking drivers on the slip road in his £150,000 Mercedes G Wagon.

He was pulled over between junction 22 and 20 of the westbound carriageway in Hertfordshire on Sunday morning, cops say.

BCH Road Police tweeted: "Having just overtaken a marked police X5, this somewhat well known footballer decided 125mph and undertaking on an off slip of the M25 was OK #taxitotraining."

Hertfordshire Police confirmed an unnamed man in his 30s from London was reported for summons for excessive speed on December 30.

He will appear at magistrates' court at a later date.

Officers have said they can't name the player for legal reasons and while it is not known which club they play for, the footage was captured near where Arsenal and Tottenham players live.
