Watford Borough Council is encouraging residents to take part in a consultation by the Boundaries Commission on proposed changes to the town’s parliamentary constituency.

The Council are urging residents to comment on proposed boundary changes.

Under current proposals, Woodside would be moved from the Watford constituency to the St Albans constituency. South Oxhey, meanwhile, would be moved from the South West Hertfordshire constituency to the Watford constituency.

This review follows Parliament’s decision to reduce the number of constituencies in the UK to 600 from 650, and to ensure an equal number of electors in each constituency.

A map on the Boundary Commission for England’s (BCE’s) website shows the proposed changes to them on a map. To see Watford’s current constituency boundaries, click on ‘boundaries’ above the map, followed by ‘existing constituencies.

An initial 12-week consultation was held in the autumn last year, giving the public the first chance to view and comment on BCE’s plans. A second consultation was then held in the spring of this year. To view public responses to the previous consultations, click on ‘comments’ above the Boundary Commission map and tick one or both of the boxes.

There’s still time to leave a general comment, but the deadline for responses is Monday 11 December.
