Barrett was arrested as he transferred the contents of the gang's "stash house" to an associate's home in Garston near Watford, the Old Bailey heard.

Update 10th Feb - Jason Ryan, 48, of Purbrock Avenue, in Watford, was arrested at the same time as three other men last week.

He was not mentioned at the time because he was due to stand trial shortly after them.

Officers found 15kgs of cannabis worth £150,000, packed into plastic bags and labelled with brand names including 'Wiggo', 'ammo', and 'Moby Dick'.

They also recovered nearly a kilo of class A drug MDMA, another 18 kilograms of cocaine, and £122,000 in cash.

Three international drug smugglers Jonathan Hart, 50, Andrew Barrett, and Michael Mealing, both 41, who arranged for £2.5 million of cocaine the drop-off out of a light aircraft flown by a Belgium pilot into a field in Kent on the day of the EU referendum vote have been jailed for nearly 40 years.

He sentenced Mealing to 12-and-a-half years in prison, and jailed Hart, who has previous convictions for drug dealing, for ten years and nine months. 

Prosecutor Heidi Stonecliffe said maps were later recovered from theri Land Rover, with several locations marked with the words "good landing".

Steve McIntyre, from the NCA’s Border Policing Command, said cocaine is linked to organised crime, guns, knife crime and child exploitation, and said Mealing, Hart, and Barrett “occupied a place at the start of that chain of harm”.
