A drive to tackle suspected drugs use and anti-social behaviour (ASB) problems that happened in Woodall Shops and the town centre at the end of September. 

This brings the total arrested to twenty-two. 

The recent arrests were made following on-going investigations and the execution of a drugs warrant at an address in Cole Green Lane on Wednesday, October 12. 

During the warrants the following were arrested: 

* A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug with intent to supply. He is due to return to Hatfield Police Station on December 5.

* A 28-year old man, from Welwyn Garden City, was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug with intent to supply. He is due to return to Hatfield Police Station on December 12.

During the search of the property, officers seized around £3,200 of cannabis.

Two further people were arrested in connection with the anti-social behaviour which happened in Welwyn Garden City town centre at the end of September. These include:  

* A 15-year-old boy from Welwyn Garden City was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods on October 13. He has been released on bail and is due to return on October 23 to Hatfield Police Station.

* A 16-year-old from Hatfield was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit GBH and robbery on October 6. He has been released on conditional bail and is due to return on November 25 to Hatfield Police Station. The boy’s bail with conditions includes a curfew not to leave his home between the hours of 7pm and 7am.

Detective Inspector John Hazeldine, who leads Welwyn Hatfield’s Local Crime Unit, said: “We are continuing our investigations into the anti-social behaviour experienced at Woodhall shops, the town centre and the reported drugs activity.”

He added: “We will not tolerate drugs use in Welwyn Hatfield and are working hard to drive it out. Through our own investigations and information from the public, we can work together to keep Welwyn and Hatfield safe and I would therefore strongly encourage people to always report suspicious activity and anti-social behaviour to us should they come across it.
