A police dog that had broken it's neck in two place when it fell 12ft during a chase after thieves is now back home. The accident happened in the early hours of Thursday 21 July.
PC Clive Warncken of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire dog unit, said "he was delighted to have Nero back and he was "doing well and was comfortable".
PC Warncken said "Nero was not used to resting as he's used to being so active, but I will ensure he receives the rest he needs"
The vet who treated the dog has released an X-ray which shows the extent of his injuries - two clear fractures.
The police dog Nero was kept at the Stevenage surgery's hospital for a week for pain relief and has so far responded well to treatment and been incredibly brave, she said.
Officers said Nero, a German Shepherd Nero, six, who was "injured doing what he loved, servicing his community and tracking down baddies".
