The first trailer for Rocketman, a biopic about Sir Elton John’s early years, is finally here.
This seems part of a curent burst of Tributes, with Freddie Mercury-focused Bohemian Rhapsody out on the 24th of this month.
But it turns out the films shares the same director, in a way: Rocketman helmer Dexter Fletcher stepped in to wrap up Bohemian Rhapsody after that film’s original director, Bryan Singer was fired last December.
Like Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman is a film about the early years of a rock star and prominent gay icon who reached the peak of his fame in the 1970s and 80s.
After just a few years working as an actor in TV and film, Egerton hit it big with Kingsman: The Secret Service in 2014, charming audiences with an abundance of charisma and solid comedic timing.
One year later, the actor proved he can carry a biopic in Eddie the Eagle, which received largely positive if not glowing reviews.
Rocketman will premiere on May 31, 2019.
