Staff confirmed they will lose their jobs, but some are have been only there for 3 weeks or more to help with the closure. One manager who had been there three years told us she has another job lined up to go to. She said another manager has been there for almost 20years, but could not omment on her situation or of her opinion of Sir Philip Green the the owner of the business, but did add that "it has been great working for BHS". When the stores do close, some 11,000 jobs and 22,000 pensions are to be lost.
Former owner Sir Philip Green, who has been accused by MPs of selling BHS to a "manifestly unsuitable" buyer with no retail experience prior to its demise, is under intense pressure to plug the vast deficit in BHS's pension schemes. Business Secretary Sajid Javid has taken the unusual step of accelerating the inquiry by the Insolvency Service into the retailer’s collapse, rather than wait three months for administrators to conclude their own investigation. The investigation will look not only at the conduct of the directors at the point of its insolvency, but can also scrutinise directors’ behaviour at the company three years before the insolvency, meaning Sir Philip will also be investigated. BHS was owned by Sir Philip Green and wife Lady Tina from 2000 until March 2015, when it was sold to Retail Acquisitions for £1.
